Melbourne - Gaol and Shabbat

Well, this past shabbat we spent in Melbourne, pronounced 'Melbuurn' for those in the know....I am writing this while I am waiting for a flight to Cairns, aka the Great Barrier Reef.

Elliot, Lisa and I had a wonderful time in Melbourne, especially do to the efforts of Lisa Rockman and Shani Slodowitz, who got us lovely accomodations and great meals for shabbat. Kudos! We had some meals for shabbat and some truly great discussions with people over shabbat. Melbourne is a very interesting, tight knit jewish community. People were very friendly and welcoming to strangers.... Also, on Friday we went to the Melbourne Gaol, where many folks were incarcerated, and even hung, especially the famous Australian Ned Kelley - it was a very interesting museum, although very somber!

Next we went on Sunday to start our two day trip along the Great Ocean Road. Stay tuned for details and pictures in my next entry...
